3/4/12
Jaclyn Traina and Ryan Iamurri who played on the Naples team in the
2003 final vs Waco are playing for the #1 ranked University of
Alabama softball team (
http://www.rolltide.com/sports/w-softbl/alab-w-softbl-body.html
). They will be in your back yard next week when Alabama plays
Oregon on March 13th and at Portland St. on the 14th.
They are two of fortunate few to play in the Little League and
College World Series. Jaclyn was 2011- 1st team Division1
All-American at Alabama last year and the teams number 1 pitcher
with a 10-0 record this year. Ryan is hitting .400 with some
playing time on a team filled with .450 to .500 hitters.
Robert Iamurri |
I played in the 2003 LLWS. I have continued playing softball and Little League was a big
factor in developing my love and passion for softball. I have
traveled to many states over the past several years to compete
in national tournaments for ASA softball but the LLWS here in
Portland was and is still a highlight of my softball
career. There is nothing better than playing in your home town
and having the "community" come out and support your
team. Playing in the LLWS was a once in a lifetime experience
and I will always cherish that week of meeting and playing with
players from all over the world. I went on to play for 4 years at Jesuit High School and was the varsity
catcher all four years receiving all league first team honors
and all state first team honors for 2008 and 2009. I was honored
to be part of Jesuit's softball team as they won their first
state championship for softball in 2006. For summer ball I have
played for the NW Bullets's Gold team the last four years
and our team has competed at the Gold National Championships
held at the Hall Of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City the past two
seasons and will again travel there to compete this August 2009. Upon my return from Gold Nationals I will begin college at Georgetown University in Washington DC where I will study Health Sciences
and l continue to play softball in the Big East conference.I am truly thankful to be able to still be playing a game that I love
after all these years and I give LL a lot of credit in helping
to establish the "love of the game" in me at an early age.

Colleen Orsborn – Upper Darby Little League, East, 2003. Since
the Little League World Series, I have continued to play
softball without interruption. I have played all through high
school at Archbishop Prendergast High School. I played on the
varsity team and was an All-Catholic, All Delco player in both
my senior and junior year. I also pursued an avid All Star
Cheerleading career winning two national titles and another
appearance on ESPN in another sport. This year, 2009, I am
beginning my college career at Widener University for nursing
and will be playing softball for them also. I will always
remember my time at the 2003 Little League World Series. Even
though we all have gone our separate ways, we remain bonded and
still feel that connection whenever we see each other. I look
forward to the days when I can tell my children about my
experience at the Alpenrose Stadium and all the wonderful people
I met there. I also share a bond with my mom since she was the
manager of the team that went to the Little League World Series
and we always reminisce about that summer and all the great
memories we have. Thank you for being a cherished memory of my
childhood. |

Jenn Nance-
Upper Darby Little League, East, 2003. Since the Little League
Softball World Series in 2003 I have continued to play softball
with great passion. I played all through high school at
Archbishop Prendergast High School, making my varsity team in my
sophomore year. In my sophomore year of high school I started
to play for the tournament team the Delco Diamonds which was
based out of Pennsylvania. I went on to win a couple tournaments
with them and played up to the summer of 2009 with them. I
started my college career in 2009 attending Widener University
studying Early Childhood Educatin and Special Education. I play
softball there now and I will be a junior there for the
2011-2012 school year. My freshmen year on the team I played in
11 games and I was named NFCA Academic All-America. My sophomore
year on the team I was the starting center fielder and I was
named to the second team
All-Commonwealth
Conference and I closed the year with a .330 batting average and
finished first on the team for RBIs with 21. Academically I have
a GPA of 3.4. My team at the Softball World Series has taught me
that anything is possible when you put your mind to it. I love
Alpenrose Stadium and all the memories that is has given to me.
I cannot wait to share my experiences with my children and maybe
even one day be back there with one of my children. Even though
me and my teammates have gone our separate ways I still play
with one of the girls that was on the 2003 East team with me.
That summer was probably one of the best summers I ever had
especially since it was the last time my grandfather was able to
see me play softball. Thank you for the wonderful memories I
will be able. to remember forever! |
Frank Smith here,
coach of Team Canada 2006. I just wanted to report to you on
the success of my daughters Janelle and Mckenzie – who both had
the great pleasure of playing on Team Canada in the Little
League Softball World Series.
Janelle played in 2003. Today she is a Junior at Frank Phillips
College in Borger, Texas. She is on an athletic scholarship.
Last season she enjoyed more success than any other player from
her college program, being named to the all-star team for both
her conference and region!
